Client Overview

Our client, a local freelance IT training institution based in Bangladesh, provides online and offline training in various skills such as web design, graphic design, SEO, lead generation, ethical hacking, UI design, email marketing, Wix design, and Shopify design. When we started working together, they faced significant challenges standing out in a competitive local market.

Client Goals and Challenges

The primary goal was to increase organic traffic to the website and improve overall SEO. The client faced tough competition, as competitors had higher traffic, more GMB reviews, and better visibility. Additionally, their keywords were not ranking well on the SERP, and they were absent from the local map pack. The backlink profile was also problematic, containing numerous toxic links. Upon initiating the project in May 2023, the website’s organic traffic was 1.4k visitors per month, indicating a need for improvement.

SEO Strategy & Implementation

1. Competitor Analysis and Keyword Research

We began by conducting an in-depth competitor analysis to identify gaps and opportunities. We conducted detailed keyword research focused on local keywords that were relevant to the IT training services offered. This research helped us identify underutilized long-tail keywords that would help differentiate the client from competitors and improve local search rankings.

2. On-Page SEO and Technical Improvements

We executed extensive on-page optimization, including updating meta titles, descriptions, and header tags. We also ensured strategic use of the targeted keywords throughout the content. Technical SEO fixes were implemented, such as optimizing for page speed, ensuring mobile responsiveness, and utilizing schema markup to enhance local search visibility. Toxic links in the backlink profile were also disavowed to improve domain health.

3. Link Building and Link Disavow

To enhance the client’s backlink profile, we focused on building high-quality links, especially local citations, to boost credibility. We ensured that the IT training company was listed in relevant business directories and citation platforms, significantly improving local trust signals. There were 28k spammy links. So I disavowed all the domains containing spam.

4. GMB Profile Optimization & Social Media Management

Optimizing the Google My Business profile was a key part of the SEO strategy. We updated the GMB description, added photos, encouraged reviews, and consistently posted updates related to training schedules, success stories, and offers. We also posted both promotional and informative content on the client’s social media channels to engage their audience and drive brand awareness.

Results Achieved

Within 90 days of implementing these strategies, the client saw significant improvements:

– Organic Traffic Growth: Monthly organic traffic increased from 1.4k to 4.5k, representing a growth of approximately 211.91%.

– Local Map Pack Rankings: The client’s primary keywords began appearing both in the organic SERP and the local map pack, significantly improving their local visibility.

– Increased Leads: Lead generation showed notable growth, with more inquiries via phone calls and an increase in website form submissions. The visibility improvements directly contributed to more student enrollment inquiries.

This case study highlights how a well-rounded SEO strategy can help a local business in a competitive market achieve substantial growth. By focusing on local keyword optimization, on-page and technical SEO improvements, backlink quality, and GMB profile management, we were able to enhance the online presence of the IT training institution significantly.

For businesses operating in competitive sectors, it’s crucial to address all aspects of SEO—on-page, off-page, technical, and local—to see measurable results. My approach allowed the client to outperform local competitors, gain visibility, and increase traffic and leads within just 90 days.
